Makailee adores her little sister, Rylee. She carries her around, protects her, hugs and kisses her, and helps take care of her. She is constantly telling everyone how adorable her little sister is. Rylee looks up to her big sis and wants to be just like her...
I joke that Jaxton and Rylee have a love/hate relationship. :D Jaxton hasn't always been too keen on Rylee. After all, she is a baby! She cries...loudly, I might add. She scratches him when she wants a toy he has, she annoys him, pesters him, knocks over his beautiful block towers, and touches him with her yucky, sticky hands. :P But every once in a while, you can catch a glimpse of an amazing, undeniable love between the two of them. Jaxton will go up to Rylee, smile at her, rub her cheek and give her a hug. It's sweet enough to bring you to tears, I tell ya. He will grab her hand and tell her to "come on!" and they will chase each other up and down the hall, giggling the whole time. When we are in the car, they will look at each other and immediately start laughing hysterically. It is such a sweet thing to witness. No words can describe the deep love you can see in their eyes as they look at each other and laugh. Jaxton will be laughing at her and he will say "too, too silly!" She is just so funny to him. Rylee looks at him in total admiration. You can see it in her eyes. He is her big brother and she knows it. She knows he loves her despite his annoyance with her at times. :D It is truly beautiful. Normally when Rylee is crying loudly in the car, Jaxton gets kind of sad and annoyed. She is seriously LOUD. Today, while driving to a park, Rylee started crying very loudly. She did not want to be strapped in the car! I looked back at Jaxton and expected him to get upset. He totally surprised me. He looked over at her, looked her in the eyes and said oh so sweetly, "ooooh baby! Don't cry!!" He said it over and over again. She stopped crying. It melted my heart, literally. With Jaxton being autistic, having a screaming baby sitting next to him is NOT ideal. It can actually be very painful for him to have to listen to. This is why it was such an amazing thing for him to have such empathy for his little sister while she was crying. He was able to forget about the pain it was causing HIM and was worried about his baby sister and wanted her to be happy...

What beautiful pictures of your children loving each other! That really is joy, isn't it?
Thank you so much for sending me your link. I know so very well the feelings that you have about your special boy. It is not the life we thought we'd have, but there sure is a lot of awesomeness in it!
Love, Bree
You made me cry. Thanks for sharing that.
I think one of the reasons why Heavenly Father entrusts us with his special children (children with disabilities) is because they teach us a specific kind of love that we can't learn any other way. This is an excellent example of that. :)
